SUNDAY Update: Warm & Dry Pattern Continues – Watching Tuesday Storm System

Good Morning! Our nice warming trend continues today. It should be a nearly perfect Sunday. Our nice weather continues through Monday. But, there’s new concerns over what appears to be a rather robust storm system approaching Tuesday. We are in a Marginal Severe Weather Risk. A few stronger storms are possible, especially in western Alabama. Damaging winds would be the main threat, but a tornado or two can’t be ruled out.

TODAY: It’s been a nearly perfect weekend so far. And, the news is very good again today. Sunshine, warmer. High near 80.. Light wind. Not quite as chilly again tonight. Low 49.

Another Beautiful Day arounds the Southeast U.S. Today. But, we note that storm system in the west that we will have to deal with by Tuesday.

NEXT FEW DAYS: Our remarkable warm, dry pattern continues through Monday. Sunshine will dominate. We’ll be in the lower 80’s by Monday and Tuesday. Showers & thunderstorms return to the forecast Tuesday, as a cool front approaches. The air behind the next front is cooler, but not too cold.

A rather robust storm system/cold front will bring showers and storms back to the forecast on Tuesday & Tuesday night. We are in a Marginal Severe Weather Risk. A few stronger storms are possible, especially in western Alabama. Damaging winds would be the main threat, but a tornado or two can’t be ruled out. We’ll have a chance to update and refine this forecast tomorrow.

WE NEED RAIN: October is typically our driest month of the year. The latest Drought Monitor update shows most of our state in in a Level 1 Abnormally Dry zone. Level 2 Moderate Drought covers much of South Alabama. There’s even a sliver of Severe Drought in coastal Alabama.
