FRIDAY Update:  Small Rain Risk Saturday – Warm Days Continue

Good Morning!    Our warm, dry, comfortable pattern continues today.  The weekend will be well above normal, too.  An approaching front could bring scattered showers on Saturday.  But, unfortunately the rain chances are very small. Meanwhile, our warm days will continue.   Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:    Mostly sunny, breezy and warm.  High in the lower 80’s.  Southeast wind at 10 to 20 mph. Partly cloudy and mild tonight.  Low 61.

A tightening pressure gradient on the back side of high pressure will promote gusty winds later.

Dangerous Level 3 Severe Threat today in the Ark/La/Tex region. But, severe weather should not be a problem for us over the weekend as this system, thankfully, fizzles.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  An approaching fizzling front will bring in a small rain chance to the state Saturday.  Showers will move into western Alabama, and will “tease” central Alabama.   I’ll put in a 30% chance.  But, so far the models show this system fizzling by Sunday.  We need any rain drops we can get.   Otherwise, it will continue to be much above normal with highs in the lower 80’s through Tuesday.  Small rain chance of showers late Wednesday night into Thursday.

Most of the Eastern U.S. continues to be much warmer than normal.  But, it’s quite cold out west.

Rainfall prospects not very good over the next 5 days, particularly for the eastern half of Alabama.  I have introduced a tiny rain chance Wednesday night and Thursday.

TROPICAL WEATHER: Lisa is a fizzling Tropical Depression near the SW Gulf.     There are Two Areas to Watch in the Atlantic. The Close-in one could potentially interesting implications for the southeast United States next week.

Both the American GFS and the Euro model suggest potential Tropical Development affecting Florida by mid to late week.  Could some of that tropical moisture rotate into Alabama?   We hope!   I have introduced a tiny rain chance Wednesday night and Thursday.

FALL BACK:  This is the weekend we Fall Back.  Set the clocks back an hour late Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2AM.  Back to Standard time till next March.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning! This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.  Watch us on TV on CBS 8 and ABC 32.  I’ll have another update for you in the morning.  Have a nice weekend!
