Good Morning! Nicole brought some much needed rain for many of us. Nicole’s rain departs the state this morning. A strong cold front is on the way. Get ready for a change of wardrobe this weekend. Some chilly air is on the way. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
TODAY:
Expect some lingering Nicole effects early. Light rain is still a good bet through about 9 to 10:00 AM. Then mostly dry. Winds today will be gusting to 10 to 20, gusting to 25 mph. High mid 70’s. Colder tonight. Breezy. Low 53.
Here’s a Future Radar example at 9AM showing Nicole’s rain starting to depart the area. The rest of the day looks dry.
The Strong Cold Front approaching will probably be a dry front for most of us. Saturday will be brisk and much cooler. The coldest air arrives Saturday night with lows in the 30’s. Sunday’s high will only be in the 50’s.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Much cooler (colder) air is on the way. Highs in the low to mid 60’s Saturday, is stage one. Colder air arrives Saturday night as we fall into the 30’s. Sunday’s high only in the 50’s Coldest morning is Monday morning. Another threat of rain returns to the forecast Monday night into Tuesday.

We need the rain drops. New drought monitor map is disturbing. 88% of the state is abnormally dry. Now, 41% of the state is in a Moderate or Severe drought. Not good.
Goodbye NICOLE: Tropical Depression Nicole (at 2AM) was located near Americus, GA moving NNW at 16. Most of the heaviest rainfall and the tornado threat is well northeast of the center. Nicole will become a post tropical remnant low by later today, as it heads toward the middle Atlantic states. It has a future as a Nor’ Easter off New England.
