THURSDAY Update: December Starts Quiet and Cool

Good Morning!   Welcome to December.  First day of Meteorological Winter.  I’m happy to say all is quiet today.  Much cooler air has engulfed the state. We’re dry today and Friday.  But, an approaching front could bring some scattered showers and storms to the area by the weekend.

TODAY:    Cool sunshine today.  High 56.  North wind 6 to 12 mph.   Mainly clear, chilly tonight.   Low 39.

NEXT FEW DAYS:    There’s lots of tree lightnings and parades over the next several days. Uneventful Friday.  Lots of sun.  Near normal high temperature…65.  Dry Friday night.  Risk of scattered showers and maybe a couple of thunderstorms over the weekend, as a front moves through.

Warmer Saturday.  High near 70.   60’s Sunday.  Near 70 Monday.  Mid 70’s Tuesday.   Small chance of showers.

TORNADO SURVEYS CONTINUE:  The Tuesday/Tuesday night/Wednesday tornado outbreak, unfortunately brought dozens of tornadoes to the Gulf South, including the deadly tornado in the Flatwood neighborhood in north Montgomery county, which tragically killed a mother and her eight year old son, just after 3AM Wednesday morning.

NWS Birmingham has completed 4 surveys so far.  Tornado surveys continue today.
