Good Morning! Today will be rather uneventful and kind of mild for December, There are lots of tree lightings and parades this evening, and the weather will cooperate in a big way. An approaching front could bring some scattered showers and storms to the area tomorrow, but the showers will be spotty in coverage. I don’t see any arctic air intrusions in the next 7 to 10 days and that’s great news! Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
TODAY: Good bit of sunshine today. Mild for December. High 68. East wind 6 to 12 mph. Partly cloudy tonight. Cool, but not as cold. Low 52. (Normal High/Low 65/40).
NEXT FEW DAYS: A weak frontal system will help spark some scattered showers Saturday and Saturday evening. Sunday will be a few degrees cooler behind the front. Another front enters north Alabama Monday and stalls. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms wilk be around at times Monday through Wednesday.
Front brings us a shower threat Saturday. The front reaches the coast Sunday. Sunday will be a drier day.
NO ARCTIC AIR IN SIGHT (RIGHT NOW): Next week will be quite mild. Temperatures will be mainly in the 70’s. At the Current time, I don’t see an arctic intrusions in the next 7 to 10 days. I’m not a fan of the monthly and seasonal outlooks, because they are frequently wrong. But, in case you are wondering, the Climate Prediction Center has us averaging above normal on temperatures in December.
DROUGHT MONITOR: The new Drought Monitor may looks ugly. 90% state at least Abnormally Dry. 53% of the state in either Moderate or Severe Drought.
