THURSDAY Update: Quieter, Cooler Trend Next Few Days

Good Morning!  We are in a relatively quiet pattern for the next few days, after all the tornado drama Tuesday and Wednesday morning.  Today will be sunny and nice.  Cooler.  Nights are chilly.  Expect 30’s for the next two nights.  Looking ahead to the weekend…Saturday is dry and nice.  Scattered showers return Sunday.  No “Big Ticket” weather is on the horizon for the next few days.  It’s now time to pick up the pieces in Alabama after yet another Tornado Outbreak.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:   Sunshine, cooler.  High 62. West Wind 6 to 12 mph. Clear, Chilly tonight, but near normal  Cooler tonight.  Low 37.  Normal 59/37.

(Yesterday High 76.  Storm total rainfall 1.54”)

PRELIMINARY TORNADO SURVEYS:  NWS Birmingham was very busy conducting many tornado surveys yesterday.  Looks like seven tornadoes were surveyed, including at least 3 EF-1s and one EF-2 (Lake Jordan Tornado #4).  That was the big tornado of the day, with a 9 mile track and 800 yards wide.    The east Montgomery tornado (Halcyon Tornado #5) was an EF-1, nearly 2 miles long, 130 yards wide.  More surveys will be conducted today.  Here’s a link where you cab read DETAILED info on each tornado surveyed.

We live in an increasingly active Tornado Region called “Dixie Alley”.   What used to be a Spring tornado season, and a secondary season in November, has now evolved into an elongated Tornado Season from about November to May.  Unfortunate, but that seems to be the evolution.

NEXT FEW DAYS:    It will be cooler but nice Friday. (very close to normal)    Dry through Saturday. Saturday looks like a really nice day for early January. Scattered showers Sunday.   Small risk of showers Monday and Tuesday.  No big ticket weather next few days.

Here’s the 10 day Model Temperature Trend.  The BEST news is…the Arctic Flood Gates are closed for now.

Thanks for reading this very brief Blog update this morning! This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.  Watch us on TV on CBS 8 and ABC 32.  I’ll have another update for you in the morning.  Have a nice Day!
