MONDAY Update: Nice Warming Trend Continues – Mid Week Severe Risk

Good Morning!  Our nice warming trend continues.  You could not write a better scrip for today’s weather.   In fact, Tuesday will be equally as nice.  By Wednesday we should be in the mid 70’s, if not warmer. The Next “big-deal” storm system will arrive late Wednesday and through Wednesday night into Thursday.  So far the Storm Prediction Center has a Level 1 Severe Risk for much of the state.  All modes of severe weather are possible, including tornadoes.  Unfortunately, the main threat window will be in the overnight hours Wednesday night.  Colder air will follow the storm system.

TODAY:   Beautiful start to this new week.  Sunshine High near 70.  (Yesterday’s high 67…normal 63/38)   East wind 5 to 10.  Partly cloudy.  Not as cold tonight.  Low 42.

NEXT FEW DAYS:    Tuesday will be nice.  The warm up continues.  Wednesday will be the warmest days of the week.  The Next “big-deal” storm system will arrive late Wednesday and through Wednesday night into Thursday.  So far, the Storm Prediction Center has a Level 1 Severe Risk for much of the state.  All modes of severe weather are possible, including tornadoes.  Unfortunately, the main threat window will be in the overnight hours Wednesday night.  Colder air will follow the storm system.

The Next big-deal storm system will arrive late Wednesday night into early Thursday.  Even though the models do not agree on the details, if I was a betting man, I’m pretty sure we’ll have to deal with a severe weather threat, including the risk for tornadoes.  Stay tuned.  So far, the Storm Prediction Center has not issued an outlook.

A nice warming trend continues through Wednesday.  Colder late week, but not for long.  Here’s the 10 day temperature trend.

FULL SNOW MOON:  Spectacular Full “Snow” Moon this morning.   Moonset in the west at 7:24 this morning.  Sunset in the East at 6:37 AM.

SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK:   This is Severe Weather Awareness week in Alabama.  We have had multiple severe weather events since November.  In January alone there were 29 tornadoes.  Nine people have lost their lives since November.  The severe threat continues through mid May.  Now is the time to discuss a family plan.  Alabama has the highest tornado fatality rate in the nation.
