Good Morning! It’s not a very bright forecast. Wet at times today and Saturday. Very chilly, especially Saturday. In fact, Saturday will be Cold and Wet. Sunday may start cloudy, wet & cold early, but we should see the sun by Sunday afternoon. Although Sunday will be chilly compared to normal, on Monday recovery will begin as we head for the low to mid 60’s. On Valentine’s day we’ll be near 70. Next week will be very active. Showers return Tuesday night & Wednesday. Thursday could be rather stormy. In fact, SPC has already issued a rare Severe Weather Risk. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
TODAY: Periods of showers, especially through mid-day. Cloudy. High near 60. North wind 6 to 12. Scattered showers tonight. Low 45.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Wet at times through Saturday. Saturday will be just plains cold and nasty. Period. Sunday may start cloudy, wet & cold early, but we should see the sun by Sunday afternoon. Although Sunday will be chilly, compared to normal, on Monday recovery will begin as we head for the low to mid 60’s. On Valentine’s day we’ll be near 70. Next week will be very active. Showers return Tuesday night & Wednesday. Thursday could be rather stormy. In fact, SPC has already issued a rare Severe Weather Risk.
One complicating factor in the weekend forecast involves an upper low which will migrate eastward across the Gulf states. That will set the stage for a wet and chilly Saturday. Cold and wet.
Here’s the 10 day Temperature Trend from the Model Blend.
SOUTHERN SNOW: The models continue to promote a rare accumulating snow for parts of the South this weekend, especially Tennessee, the Carolinas and North Georgia.
THURSDAY SEVERE THREAT: It’s always a big deal when the Storm Prediction Center issues a Severe Weather Threat beyond Day 3. But, when SPC issues an outlook for Day 7…that’s not good. That’s next Thursday. All modes of severe weather. Stay tuned. Looks like a multi-day severe weather event across the Deep South Wednesday through Friday. ‘Tis the season.
