MONDAY Update:  Sixth Day in the 80’s – Late Week Severe Risk

Good Morning!  It’s just February, but we’ve been in the 80’s for the last five days and today will be the 6th day.  We’ve been in record territory for the last two days. Today will be windy.  A wind Advisory is in effect.  An approaching front will weaken as it enters our state.  A few showers are possible. Looks like we may be in for SEVERE weather event in the overnight hours Thursday night into early Friday.  All modes of severe weather are possible.  Much cooler air arrives for the weekend. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

CLIMATE DATA:  Yesterday’s high in Montgomery was record tying 83. (Previous record 83 from 1962) Morning low was 61.  (Normal 68/43).

TODAY:   Windy & Warm today.  Wind Advisory in effect.   Partial sunshine. Risk of showers late day and into tonight.  High near 82.   Southwest wind 10 to 20 gusting to 30 mph.  Mostly cloudy, breezy & very mild tonight.  Low near 62.

FUTURE RADAR shows a broken line of showers, across the area, ahead of the front late this afternoon,

NEXT FEW DAYS:  .  Tuesday looks dry, and less humid.  We’re back to the 80’s Wednesday. Risk of scattered showers, and perhaps a stronger thunderstorm or two. Looks like a “Big Deal” weather system late week.   SPC has outlooked us for Severe Weather in the overnight hours Thursday night into early Friday.  All modes of severe weather are possible.

Here’s the set-up on Wednesday.  The Storm Prediction Center has the northern 2/3 of the state in a Level 1 Marginal Severe Risk.

LATE WEEK SEVERE THREAT:  A powerful storm system will take shape west of us during the day Thursday.

SPC has outlooked us for Severe Weather in the overnight hours Thursday night into early Friday.   Another unfortunate overnight event.  All modes of severe weather are on the table including tornadoes.  Here’s the Day 4 threat map, through 6AM Friday, and the Day 5 outlook starting Friday morning. We’ll know about the potential timeline as we get closer to the event.

Friday morning could be quite stormy as a squall line moves through the state.

Much cooler air follows the front for the weekend.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning! This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.  Watch us on TV on CBS 8 and ABC 32.  I’ll have another update for you in the morning.  Have a nice day!
