FRIDAY Update:  Wet and Active Next Couple of Days – Very Cool Easter Weekend

Good Morning!  We are easing into a wetter, more active pattern for a couple of days. Blame a stalled front stretched across the South.  Showers and storms will be back on the radar today.  The rain & storms will be much more numerous by tonight.  Saturday is NOT a good day.  Off and on rain Saturday & Saturday night.  And very cool, compared to normal. Have a Plan “B”.  Easter will be cool, but the rain chances almost go away.  Sunshine returns Monday. Could be something tropical affecting us by the middle of the week.  We’ll be watching the northern Gulf.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

CLIMATE DATA:  We came close to the record yesterday with 87°.  (Record: 89 from 1890)  (Normal: 77/50)   Morning Low 62.  Rainfall:  .22”

TODAY:  Mostly cloudy.  Warm again.  High 83.  Risk of showers and thunderstorms during the day.  But, by this evening and tonight, showers and storms become much more numerous.  North wind 10 to 15 mph, becoming quite gusty by this evening and tonight.  Low tonight 56.

We have a stalled front in the neighborhood, with waves of low pressure moving along the front.

Future Radar shows a relatively small rain chance this afternoon.  Much better chance of showers and storms tonight.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Saturday will NOT be a good day…at all.  On and off rain (maybe some thunderstorms)…   A very cool day, compared to normal.  High 62.  Easter Sunday is looking a little better now.  Even though I still have a 20% chance of leftover showers in the forecast, I may remove rain all together.  It’ll be quite cool for the 9th of April, with a high in the mid 60’s.  Monday looks cool and nice.  Showers are at least possible again Tuesday & Wednesday.

Could there be a tropical Low next week, in the northern Gulf of Mexico?   Something suspicious.  We’ll watch.  Interesting.

Here’s the expected rainfall through the next 7 days.   Look at the northern Gulf, south of New Orleans.  Something tropical?

BEACH FORECAST:   Not a good forecast, unfortunately  Wet at times, especially Friday night through Saturday.  Not only that.  High rip current risk.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning! This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.  Watch us on TV on CBS 8 and ABC 32.  I’ll have another update for you in the morning.  Have a nice day! –Rich
