Good Morning! Many towns got wet in the overnight hours as the first of two cold fronts moved through. Rainfall amounts were fairly light. Early this morning, before Dawn, this first front is south of I-85. Drier air will overspread the state. A Secondary cold front will bring in some much cooler air tonight. Sunday looks nice. Clouds increase on Monday. Rain is back in the forecast starting Tuesday and especially Wednesday. There will be lingering showers Thursday, but nothing severe.
CLIMATE DATA: Yesterday we had a cool morning low of 56, and a afternoon high of 82. (Normal 80/54) Airpprt rainfall: .02” East Montgomery .05”.
TODAY: The risk of showers clears out early. Mostly cloudy through mid morning. Gradually becoming mostly sunny. High 76. Breezy. North wind 5 to 15 gusting to 20 mph. Mainly clear, colder tonight. Low 49.
The cold front that brought the showers overnight exits the state early. The second cold front delivers some chilly air for tonight.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Nice day Sunday. Mid 70’s. Clouds return Monday, but it should be dry. Risk of showers return by Tuesday afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night and Wednesday. Highs in the 70’s. Risk of leftover showers Thursday.
The Mid Week Storm System stays south, moving along the northern Gulf Coast. That’ll keep the threat of any stronger storms south of the front along the coast.
BEACH FORECAST: Risk of scattered thunderstorms early today, then improvement. Nice day. Comfortable weekend, even after the cold front moves through. Sunday & Monday looks really Gulf water temperature 74. HIGH Rip Current Risk today through Sunday.
METEOR SHOWER: The Lyrid Meteor shower peaks late tonight. Skies will be mostly clear. It’s not one of the bigger meteor showers of the year, but there should be about 20 per hour. Check out the northeast sky after midnight, far away from city lights.
