Good Morning! We are in a classic Summertime pattern weeks early, with 90° yesterday, and lots of humidity, some “big boomers” were roaming around. Such will be the case again today. Thunderstorms will still be random, but there will be a generous supply today and Thursday, in the afternoon and evening. But, a building bubble of upper level high pressure means fewer storms by Saturday, and a unusually HOT Mother’s Day weekend. Our early summer preview is locked in for several more days. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
CLIMATE DATA: Yesterday morning’s low was 64. Yesterday’s high was 90°. (Normal hi/lo 84/59) Airport rainfall: 0.00.
TODAY: Hot & humid again today. Sun and cloud mix. Scattered “hit or miss” storms especially this afternoon & this evening, before fading out. Storms will be more numerous than yesterday. High 90. Storms will fade out by late tonight, Low tonight 67.
A weak frontal system parked across the state will be the focus for more storms this afternoon and tonight,
Hi-res Future Radar snapshots suggests storms will be more numerous today. In fact, like yesterday, a few stronger storms can’t be ruled out.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Our summer preview will continue. Warm & humid. Expect scattered, random hit or miss storms through Friday. By Saturday the number of storms will start to thin out. It’s hot now, but, it should be hotter over the Mother’s Day weekend. I’ve got us near 93 on Sunday. The record is 96 from 1881.
The big upper ridge of high pressure over us is promoting this Summer-like pattern. The upper high only gets stronger by the weekend. Looks like a hot and humid Mother’s Day Weekend.
BEACH FORECAST: Looks like a pretty favorable weekend beach forecast. Spotty storms perhaps Friday. Mainly dry and warm Saturday and Sunday. Finally, the Gulf water is starting to warm up. Gulf water temperature 78.
