FRIDAY Update:   Warmth, Humidity – Scattered Storms – Hot Weekend

Good Morning!  It was another very stormy night.  Locally heavy rainfall amounts.  Our early summer preview continues for the next several days.  We’re headed for the upper 80’s today, but over the weekend, highs will reach the lower 90’s.  Scattered hit or miss storms will pop up again today.  But, over the Mother Days weekend, storms will become few and far between.  The Heat Index will soar into the upper 90’s.  This early taste of summer will stay in place, well into next week. We have skipped May and jumped straight into summer.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

CLIMATE DATA:  Yesterday morning’s low was 68.  Yesterday’s high was 87°.    (Normal hi/lo 85/60)  Airport rainfall:  1.27”  East Montgomery:  0.97”

TODAY:  Warm & humid again today.  Limited sunshine.  Scattered “hit or miss” storms especially this afternoon & this evening, and into tonight.    Some storms could be strong.  High 87.    Low tonight 68.

Looks like another active thunderstorm day across the Deep South.

Here’s Future Radar.  Looks active again by late this afternoon into tonight.  Storms will be random.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Our summer preview will continue.   Warm & humid.   By  Saturday, the number of storms will start to thin out. Widely scattered storms Saturday & Sunday.  We’ll be in the lower 90’s over the weekend.  Mother’s Day will be the hottest day.  The Heat index will reach the upper 90’s.   The heat and humidity will persist into early next week, with more scattered storms.

The big upper ridge of high pressure over us is promoting this Summer-like pattern.  The upper high only gets stronger by the weekend.  Looks like a hot and humid Mother’s Day Weekend.

BEACH FORECAST:  Looks like a pretty favorable weekend beach forecast.  Scattered storms perhaps today.  Mainly dry and warm Saturday and Sunday.  The Gulf water is starting to warm up.  Gulf water temperature 78.  HIGH rip current risk Today through Sunday.
