Good morning! Today will be fairly routine. A good bit of sunshine. Highs in the lower 90’s. For most of us the rain chance will be quite low. Best chance of a storm today will be west of I-65. This week, there will be widely scattered to scattered, random pop-up showers and storms each day, mostly in the afternoon & evening hours. Best chance of rain will be Thursday as a backdoor front edges into the area. Somewhat drier air arrives on Friday and Saturday. Not as hot Saturday. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
CLIMATE DATA: Yesterday’s morning low was a cool 67 at MGM. Afternoon high was 91. Normal hi/lo: 90 and 67. No rain at the airport. Gunter AFS had dime size hail. Maxwell AFB had 42 mph wind gusts. Wetumpka had .58”.
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Hot again . High 90-92. Widely scattered, random showers & storms, especially afternoon & evening, fading out at night. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Partly cloudy tonight. Low 67.
Future Radar. Here’s three Hi-res model examples. Again today, the models vary quite a bit. The HRRR has the least activity. The WRF appears to be way overdone. But, the common theme is – the best chance of showers and storms will be in the western counties, west of I-65. For most of us the rain chance will be low…closer to 20%.
TROPICAL UPDATE: . The tropics are now quiet. No tropical cyclones are expected in the next 7 days.

Widely scattered to scattered, random pop-up showers and storms each day, mostly in the afternoon & evening hours. Lows at night in the upper 60’s.
