THURSDAY Update:  Extended Heatwave – Triple Digit Heat Indices – Not Many Showers

Good Morning!  It’s a different day, but sadly it’s the same story.  Relentless heat continues.  The big upper Heat Dome will dominate our forecast through the weekend and far beyond that.  The Heat Index made it to 103 yesterday.  Each day we’re edging closer to the danger range.  This trend will continue even well into next week.  There may be a few showers on the radar today, but they will be sparce.  The risk of daily showers and storms will be very small each day.  Widely scattered.  Isolated.  I see no end to this pattern through the first week of August.   Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Sunny & hot. Rain chance not zero, but only 20% or less.  High 98. Heat Index 104.  Low tonight 76.   Calm wind.

Future radar offers SOME hope that one or two communities will see a shower today, but chances area remote.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   The extended heatwave rolls on.  Upper 90’s Friday through Tuesday. Daily heat index 102 to 106.     Widely scattered storms return  Friday and over the weekend.  But, they will be few and far between. Little day to day change.

The massive Upper High Ridge, which has been the story of the summer here in the United states continues to expand.  It will continue to be the big story for several more days.

Rain prospects for the next five days will continue to be rather scant, except closer to the coast where storms will continue.

The Heat index is edging closer to the Danger Range.   Some of the hottest days are yet to come.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  NHC is monitoring an Area to Watch in the tropical Atlantic. The probability for development is 40% in the next 7 days.

BEACH FORECAST:   Fairly routine.  Scattered spotty storms each day.  Highs in the upper 80’s.
