FRIDAY Update:  Heat Advisory in Effect – Dangerous Heat Indices

Good Morning!  It’s been getting hotter each day this week.  Yesterday at MGM the high was 98, with a Heat index of 106.  A Heat Advisory was issued and it continues in effect through Saturday for much of the state. The Dangerous Triple digit level will continue through the weekend and beyond.  The big Upper Heat Dome will be in control through much of next week. Meanwhile, spotty storms will be back on the radar today and each of the next five days at least.  They will be widely scattered.  Few and far between.  Even nights will be oppressive.  Lows in the mid to upper 70’s.  Little day to day change.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:  HEAT ADVISORY in effect through Saturday.  Sunny & hot. Widely scattered, random, afternoon and evening storms are possible.   High 98. Heat Index as high as107.  Low tonight 77.   Light wind.

Heat Advisory in effect for a large chunk of our state through Saturday.

Here’s two Future radar samples.  First model…the WRF model at 3:00 PM is probably way overdone.  The HRRR model at 6:00 PM may be a tad underdone.  The truth, on potential coverage probably lies in the middle.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   The Heat Advisory remains in effect through Saturday, The extended heatwave rolls on.  Upper 90’s Saturday through Wednesday. Daily heat index 103 to 107.     Widely scattered random storms, each day, especially in the afternoon & evening.   But, they will be few and far between. Little day to day change.

The massive Upper High  Heat Dome, which has been the story of the summer here in the United states, will continue to be in control  for several more days.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  NHC is monitoring an Area to Watch in the tropical Atlantic. The probability for development is 50% in the next 7 days. A tropical depression may form early next week.

The EURO model highlights several areas of potential Tropical Mischief in the next 10 days.

BEACH FORECAST:   Lots of sun.  Hot and humid.  Scattered spotty storms each day.  Highs in the upper 80’s.  Tripple digit heat index.  Moderate Rip Current Risk.
