MONDAY Update:  Heat Advisory Returns – Sizzling Hot Week – Tropics are on Fire

Good Morning!  Alabama is getting hotter and hotter.  We’re back to the danger level with triple digit Heat Indices.  The Heat Advisory is back and continues at least through Tuesday.  Not only that.  We may be re-writing the record book this week.  Records are in jeopardy Tuesday through Saturday.  And, the dry/storm-free pattern will continue for several more days, as the big upper level heat dome remains in control.  Meanwhile, the tropics are just on fire.  There are three named tropic storms in the Atlantic.  Emily, Franklin and Gert.  Plus, Invest 91-L in the Gulf, could become a Depression today, or maybe Tropical Storm Harold.   It’s a busy Monday morning in the world of weather.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

CLIMATE DATA:  Sunday’s high at MGM was 96.  Morning low 73.  Highest Heat index 106.  No rain.  Normal hi/lo:  94/71.

TODAY :  Heat Advisory through Tuesday.  Sunshine. Hotter.  High 99. Max Heat index to 108.   Clear, not as cool tonight. Low 76.  Light wind.

The American Heartland is experiencing extreme heat.  Excessive Heat Warning.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Intense Heat Continues.  Heat Advisory at least through Tuesday.  Close to or exceeding record highs Wednesday through Saturday.  Sunny days.  Lower 100’s Tuesday through Saturday. Heat index 106 to 112.  Still dry/storm-free for several days.

Potential RECORD HIGHS this week. We’ll be close to or exceeding records Tuesday through Saturday. The records most in jeopardy are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Highs in the lower 100s. Hottest week of the summer so far? Probably.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  The Tropics are on fire.  There are three named tropic storms in the Atlantic.  Emily, Franklin and Gert.  Plus, Invest 91-L in the Gulf, could become a Depression today, or maybe Tropical Storm Harold.  Tropical storm watches or warnings may be needed for portions of the Texas coast later today.  Then, there’s Invest 92-L in the far east Atlantic.  The name past Harold would be Idalia.   CRAZY.   Even, as southern California deals with prolific flooding from historic Hilary.  (AND, they even had a 5.5 Earthquake yesterday.)

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning! This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.    I’ll have another update for you in the morning.  Have a nice day!
