WEDNESDAY Update:  Isolated Showers at Best – Drier Air Ahead

Good Morning!  The hope for rain is sadly fading.  Any showers that pop up across the area today will be few and far between.  The best rain chances by far have retreated to the coast with that southward moving front.  There were a few showers in the state this week, but not enough to matter.  Now, get ready for another extended stretch of dry days.  Below you’ll see the Expected Rainfall map for the next 7 days. Frustrating.   Florida and the northern Gulf get absolutely drenched.  Heavy rain.   “Close but no cigar.” Meanwhile, today will be about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, because of what’s called a Cool Wedge migrating out of Georgia.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:    Limited Sunshine.  Risk of isolated random showers & thunderstorms.  The odds of encountering a shower or storm, are tiny, unless you’ll be closer to the coast.  Cooler today.  High 82.  Low tonight 67.

Front takes most of the rain to near the coast and into the northern Gulf.

Here’s a couple of Future Radar examples this afternoon.  Simply pathetic.

Today will be about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, because of what’s called a Cool Wedge migrating out of Georgia.  Cool air from the Appalachian mountains sliding southwest into east Alabama.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Thursday and the next several days look dry.   I’ve taken the high temperatures down several degrees on today & Thursday as cooler air from the east enters the eastern half of Alabama.  Comfortable air returns by Friday and Saturday.  Next weekend looks pretty good right now, except too dry..  The Gulf of Mexico is quite active, but I don’t see any tropical concerns right away.

Below you’ll see the Expected Rainfall map for the next 7 days. Frustrating.   Florida and the northern Gulf get absolutely drenched.  Heavy rain.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  In the Atlantic there is weak Tropical Storm Phillipe. Phillipe could curve westward over the next several days and bears watching.  Invest 91-L could become a Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm Renia soon.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning! This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.    I’ll have another update for you in the morning.  Have a nice day!
