WEEKEND Update:   Cold Front Sweeps Thorough the State – Chilly Air By Tonight

Good Morning!  A Cold Front is sweeping through the state.  Clouds from this front will dominate the first half of the day. Then, gradually sunshine will take over this afternoon.  These clouds will likely have an impact on eclipse viewing, at least for the first half.  See below for more on eclipse viewing.  It will become breezy behind the front this afternoon. Colder air arrives this evening and tonight.  Jacket weather.  On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday — highs will only be in the 60’s.  Nights will be in the 40’s. Most of the week will be dry.  Rain returns to the forecast returns Friday.

TODAY:   A Cold Front is sweeping through the state.  Clouds from this front will dominate the first half of the day. Then, gradually sunshine will take over this afternoon.  High today 78.  It will become breezy behind the front this afternoon. Colder air arrives this evening and tonight.  Jacket weather.  Low tonight 53.   West wind at 6 to 12 could gust to 20 mph this afternoon.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  In the Tropical Atlantic:  Sean is a weak tropical storm.   NHC is still tracking Invest 94-L.  It could eventually threaten Puerto Rico.  This system could possibly become a hurricane.   Eventually it will curve into the Atlantic.  The next available name is Tammy.

SOLAR ECLIPSE TODAY:  Clouds could hide at least  the first half of today’s solar eclipse.  Hopefully, the clearing trend, will take place early enough for at least some eclipse viewing.  Here’s two models, the HRRR and the WRF.  You can see potential cloud issues for the first half.

The Partial eclipse starts at 10:39. Eclipse Maximum in Montgomery 12:10 PM.  End Partial Eclipse time: 1:46 PM.  Do not look directly at the sun.  View through protective glasses only.

Montgomery will be close to the 60% coverage line.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning!    I’ll have another update for you on MONDAY morning.  Have a great weekend!
