Good Morning! Weather changes are on the way as a front approaches the state. Clouds increase this afternoon & tonight. Risk of scattered showers and storms tonight and through early Friday ahead of the front. Rainfall will not be extensive at all. Timing is everything. We’re in for a beautiful late October weekend behind the front with lots of sunshine, and temperatures in the 70’s. Much of next week looks dry, perhaps till late week. Here’s my forecast discussion.
TODAY: Expect a Sun/Cloud mix today. Clouds increase this afternoon & this evening. Comfortable Hi 76. SW wind at 6-12 mph. Cloudy tonight. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop. The threat will continue overnight and through the early hours on Friday before ending. Low 57.
The front approaches the state this evening.
The Risk of showers with the front will mainly be in the morning. Drier air arrives by mid-day. It will be cooler tonight, but not cold.
As you can see, below, the hi-res models are not bullish on the rain chances. There may not be much.
This doesn’t look good. The expected rainfall looks spotty and disappointing.
The new Drought Monitor map comes out later this morning. We’ll see if last week’s 3″ of rain put a dent in the Drought.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Normal high is 80, low 54. Showers and perhaps a few storms arrive in the overnight hours and into Friday morning ahead of a cold front. Rainfall amounts will be very light. Behind the front, lots of sunshine this weekend, and temperatures in the 70’s. Lower 50’s at night. Much of next week looks dry, perhaps till late week.
TROPICAL UPDATE: Tropical Storm Tammy will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to many of the Caribbean islands, before it curves northward into the Atlantic, where it could become a hurricane.
