FRIDAY Update:   Cool and Wet at Times Next 7 Days – Periods of Rain

Good Morning!  Get ready for a big pattern change.  Much cooler.  Much wetter.  We are finally going to get a taste of the El Nino winter ahead.  A series of disturbances will drift across the Gulf South this weekend and again next week.  We desperately need rain and we may see an excessive amount of rain in central and south Alabama in the next 7 days.  Potential total rainfall in central Alabama:  2-4+”.  Much heavier amounts in south Alabama. Be Flexible with your Veterans Day Weekend plans. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Occasional Showers today, especially this afternoon, this evening and tonight.  High 71.  NW wind 6 to 12 mph.  Low tonight 57.

All signs point to a very active weekend.  Series of disturbances.  Periods of rain.

Future radar.  Here’s a sample of late afternoon and tomorrow morning.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Wet times ahead.  Cool.  Sunday’s high 59.  Periods of rain through the weekend.  Potential Weekend rainfall 1-2+”.   More rain next week, especially Monday night through Wednesday.  Potential total rainfall in central Alabama:  2-4+”.  Much heavier amounts in south Alabama.

DROUGHT MONITOR:   Alabama’s drought continues to worsen. 99.6% of the state is in some level drought. And, now 79% of our state is in severe or extreme drought. A statewide No Burn order goes into effect at 8:00AM.

Be careful what you ask for.  We desperately need rain and we may see am excessive amount of rain in central and south Alabama in the next 7 days.  Potential total rainfall in central Alabama:  2-4+”.  Much heavier amounts in south Alabama.

DISTANT:  Still looks like a  potential substantial storm system as Thanksgiving Week.  Maybe a severe weather situation.  Here’s a sample of the Euro Model November 20th at 1PM.  Looks like a big deal.

TROPICAL:  That Area to Watch (low pressure) in the Caribbean is going to be very interesting to watch over the next two weeks as it develops and then moves around back and forth.  The models don’t know what to do with it.
