MONDAY Update:  Potent Storm System Approaches – Severe Weather Risk

Good Morning! We have a storm system on the way.  We’ve been talking about it for a few weeks.   A Severe Weather Risk begins late tonight and into Tuesday.  It’s our first Severe threat of the Fall Season.  Much cooler air moves in behind the storm system.  Coldest morning – Thursday morning.   Low near 40.  Isolated showers are possible on Thanksgiving.  Better rain chances Thursday night into Friday.  Widely scattered showers possible on Saturday.  So, there are new wrinkles in the Holiday Week forecast.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:   Partial sunshine. High near 74.  Breezy.  Southwest wind  6 to 12 mph. scattered  showers & Thunderstorms become likely after Midnight.  Some storms could be strong. Low tonight 64.

Cool Front Approaches.  Potent storm system will affect a multi-state area.

Severe Weather Risk from the Ark/La/Tex region eastward into west Alabama through 6AM Tuesday. Level 3 Enhanced Risk from east Texas into Mississippi.   On Tuesday, after 6AM, the risk shifts eastward across Alabama.  Level 2 Severe Risk for many of us.  Damaging wind gusts.  Brief tornadoes possible.

Future Radar shows a line of strong to severe storms affecting the area in the wee hours of tomorrow morning.  The line of storms will actually slow down as it approaches I-65.  There will be warnings.  Risk of scattered damaging wind gusts 60+ mph and isolated brief tornadoes.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Much cooler air moves in behind the storm system.  Coldest morning – Thursday morning.   Low near 40.  Isolated showers are possible on Thanksgiving.  Better rain chances Thursday night into Friday.  Widely scattered showers possible on Saturday.

On Thanksgiving, a developing low in the Gulf moves northeast, reaching near the coast Friday morning. Increasing chance of rain Thursday night into Friday.

Be flexible with your Thanksgiving week plans. Could be wet at times. Take a look at this graphic.

TROPICAL:  Here’s the tropical weather outlook.  Do we care?   No…
