FRIDAY Update:  Dry & Mild Today – Significant Weekend Storm System

Good Morning!  Scattered showers and thunderstorms arrive Saturday afternoon, and  become likely by Saturday night. Strong to severe storms are possible.  Marginal Severe Risk. The cool front passes out of the area before lunchtime Sunday, ending the rain threat.  After the weekend storm system, look at the much colder air that funnels in.  Monday looks quite chilly. We’ll be close or below the freeze mark 3 mornings next week, but next week looks storm-free.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.  

TODAY:     Limited sunshine. Mostly cloudy.  High near 67.  SE wind at 6 to 12 mph.  Cloudy tonight.   Dry through the evening.  Risk of showers in the overnight hours. Low 54.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Scattered showers and thunderstorms arrive Saturday afternoon, and  become likely by Saturday night. A significant storm system will move through this weekend.  Showers and thunderstorms will move in during the afternoon. Some storms could be strong to severe.   Marginal Severe Risk.  The biggest risk would be Saturday night.  Damaging wind gusts is the main threat.  Brief tornadoes can’t be ruled out.  Main severe weather window begins 4PM in the far west.  On Sunday after 6:00 AM, the Marginal Severe risk shifts into SE Alabama, south and east of a Montgomery, Greenville line.

Here’s the 10 day model temp trend.  After the weekend storm system, look at the COLD air that funnels in.  Monday looks cold and breezy.  Three mornings close to or below freezing nest week.
