WEDNESDAY Update:  Cold and Wet – Parade of Storm Systems

Good Morning!  January can be an active month.  A year ago today we had a series of tornadoes.  Well, we’re not expecting a tornado situation, but we do have three storm system to deal with in the next six days – each system is a Bigger Deal.  Total rainfall in 6 days could be excessive.  System number one is meek and mild.  A little cold rain this afternoon & this evening.  The Friday night/Saturday AM system will bring heavier rain and maybe some thunderstorms.  The Late Monday/Early Tuesday storms system is the Biggest Deal, by far, with heavy rain and thunderstorms.  However, so far, it appears the Severe Threat with that Monday PM system will stay near the coast.  We’re watching it closely. We’re starting to see more clues and about a much colder trend by Mid Month.  Stay tuned. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:    Cloudy and cold.  Risk of showers by mid-day, this afternoon and this evening. Light rainfall amounts.  High 45.  Isolated showers possible until about 9PM, then colder.  Overnight low 30.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Dry weather will return Thursday and daytime Friday, but it won’t last long.  There’s more wet weather on the way.  Showers and thunderstorms are a good bet by Friday night into Saturday AM .  Looks like the chilly, well below normal pattern will continue. The Late Monday/Early Tuesday storms system is the Biggest Deal by far with heavy rain and thunderstorms.  However, so far, it appears the Severe Threat with that Monday PM system will stay near the coast.

Today’s storm system will cruise along the Gulf Coast.  No severe weather is expected. Mostly light rainfall amounts.

Another storm system will bring more extensive rain Friday night/Saturday.  Maybe some thunderstorms.

The Late Monday/Early Tuesday storms system is the Biggest Deal by far with heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Rainfall amounts could be locally excessive, especially with storm system #3.

Here’s the 10 Day Model Temperature Trend.   Lots of ups and downs in between storm systems.

This morning everything is normal including Live on the radio 6 to 9AM on NewsTalk 93.1 WACV.  There will be another Blog update and Forecast Video in the morning.
