Good morning! An amazing warming trend is underway. We could see our first 80+ degree day of this year today, and we could do it again tomorrow. It will turn colder by at least 20 degrees on Thursday and Friday. A quick shot of much cooler air. Showers and maybe a thunderstorm will return Wednesday. Then, we get a brief break on Thursday, before another shot of showers moves in starting Thursday night, Friday into Saturday and perhaps even Sunday. Temperatures will start to recover to the mid 70’s on Sunday. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.
.
TODAY: Warmest day of the year so far. High near 82. A sun/cloud mix. Considerable cloudiness. Becoming windy. South wind 10 to 20 gusting to 30 mph. Increasing clouds tonight. Low 64. (Normal: 68/43).
.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Our very warm pattern continues through Wednesday. We are getting into a more active pattern. Scattered showers are likely Wednesday. Occasional showers are in the forecast Friday through Sunday, as a series of disturbances move through the Gulf states. It will turn significantly colder by at least 20 degrees on Thursday and Friday. We will struggle to reach 60 on Wednesday. This temperature set-back will only last a few days. Looks like we’ll be back in the mid 70’s by Sunday.
Here’s the 10 day temperature trend. Look for a big warm-up especially early next week, peaking on tomorrow and Wednesday. It will turn much cooler Thursday and Friday. Temperatures start to recover again over the weekend.
Here’s the expected rainfall through Sunday. Heaviest totals will be near the Gulf Coast.
A LOOK BACK: So, today will likely be our first 80+° day of 2024. But, this week last year, we had an amazing. 11 day Heat Wave. 80+ from February 20th through March 3rd. That’s eleven days. Many of those days we reached the mid 80’s. Six of those days were Record Highs. Simply remarkable. Do you remember?
The Spring countdown.
