Good morning! Welcome to March! And, welcome to what’s called Meteorological Spring. Make no mistake about it. It will be a very cool/wet Friday as a low pressure disturbance crosses the Gulf coast. Rain and a few thunderstorms will dominate the forecast today and tonight. Over the weekend the rain chance will be rather low. Isolated/Widely scattered showers are possible. We’ll be back to the low 70’s Saturday and mid to upper 70’s by Sunday and Monday. The next significant chance of rain and thunderstorms will be on Tuesday. Excessive rainfall amounts are possible. Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY: A cool/wet first day of March. Rain and a few thunderstorms today and tapering off this evening. East wind 10 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 25 mph, High today only 58. Low tonight 53. (Normal 68/44)

ON THIS DATE: 17 years ago…2007…DATELINE ENTERPRISE ALABAMA. 12:53PM. An EF-4 tornado touches down near the airport, and moves northeast. The Tornado scored a direct hit on Enterprise High school, collapsed parts of the building’s science wing, third hallway and new gym. 8 students died. One other Enterprise resident died. There was a second EF-4 in Alabama on that Terrible Thursday. 4 people died in Wilcox county. Alabama was under an SPC High Risk that day.
