WEEKEND UPDATE:  Nice Weekend Warm-up – Eclipse Forecast Update

Good morning!  The weekend weather news is very good indeed/  Our extended string of storm-free days continue.  Abundant sunshine will dominate. Today will be comfortable with highs near 70. The warming continues on Sunday and Monday.  We’ll be in the low 80’s by Monday.  I’m cautiously optimistic that we’ll see enough sun (mixed with clouds) to get some Eclipse viewing Monday afternoon.  Fingers crossed. (more below)  Risk of showers holds off until Monday night. The probability of showers and thunderstorms increases Tuesday and especially Wednesday. Locally heavy rainfall amounts Wednesday and Wednesday night.  Locally stronger storms.

TODAY:  Great weather for the Maxwell airshow today & tomorrow.  Mostly sunny & nice.   High near 70..  (Normal 77/50)  Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.  Partly cloudy not as cool tonight.  Low 45.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Sunshine will dominate each day through Sunday.  By Sunday we’ll be in the upper 70’s.  The warming continues on and Monday with lower 80’s expected.  Risk of showers holds off until Monday night. The probability of showers and thunderstorms increases Tuesday and especially Wednesday. Locally heavy rainfall amounts Wednesday and Wednesday night.  Locally stronger storms.

On Wednesday (Day 5), SPC edges the Severe Weather Risk into west Alabama.  We’ll see if that coverage area increases as we get closer to the event. The Day 6 Outlook shows SE Alabama in the risk area.

Rainfall amounts could be quite excessive especially Wednesday and Wednesday night.

Here’s the 10 day temperature trend.

Who will see the #SolarEclipse2024 and who won’t? Due to clouds, looks viewing will be less than ideal especially across parts of the South and mid-section. Better in the Northeast.  However, there’s at least hope that we will see decent “peaks” of the 2 hours 37 min. Eclipse  at times here in Alabama.  It’s still “iffy”, but I am cautiously optimistic.

The Eclipse starts at 12:40 PM and ends at 3:17 PM.  Reaching a peak of 86% coverage at 1:59 PM.

POLLEN:   Here’s the forecast for the next 4 days..

BEACH FORECAST:   Temperatures will be below normal, otherwise, it’s a really nice Beach Forecast this weekend.  Gulf water is still quite cool. HIGH Rip current risk today and Sunday.  Moderate risk Monday.

Thanks for reading the Blog this morning.  The next scheduled Blog update and video will be Monday morning.  Have a great weekend!
