WEEKEND UPDATE:  – Nice Saturday – Hotter Days Ahead

Good Morning!  The weather news is very nice on this Saturday.  There will be some much welcomed tolerable humidity. In fact, dewpoints will be in the 50’s this afternoon.  Tonight’s low in the mid 60’s will feel comfortable..  Get ready for a HOT Sunday.  Highs in the mid 90’s.  Dewpoints at least in the mid 60’s.  Monday and Tuesday we will be returning to the “standard” forecast. Widely scattered random PM storms will return.  Along with the heat and humidity. The tropics are quiet for now.  But, hang on.  Starting late next week we will be watching the Gulf for possible tropical development according to the EURO and the GFS.  Stay tuned.   

TODAY:   Mosty sunny.  Less humid.  High near 92.  Mostly clear.  Pleasantly cool tonight.  Low 66.  Light wind.  

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Get ready for a HOT Sunday.  High around 96, would be the hottest day of the year so far.  Dewpoints at least in the mid 60’s.  The Heat Index will near triple digit levels. On Monday and Tuesday, we will be returning to the “standard” June forecast. Widely scattered random PM storms will return.  Along with the heat and humidity.  Highs in the upper 80’s and lower 90’s. . 

TROPICAL:   NHC says no tropical development in the next 7 days.  HOWEVER…

Starting late next week we will be watching the Gulf for possible tropical development according to the EURO and the GFS.  Stay tuned.  These two maps from the EURO show the Tropical Depression Probability for the next 10 days through June 18th. The other map is the Tropical Storm Probability for the next 10 days. 

Even the GFS is showing what could be a sub-tropical or tropical Low in the Gulf as early as late next week. 

BEACH FORECAST:  Routine June forecast.  Mainly dry and sunny. Scattered random storms Monday.  Highs in the Upper 80’s.  Gulf water 84.  Moderate Rip Current Risk, especially from Destin eastward.

Besides the rip current risk…. WHATCH OUT FOR SHARKS! Some of the beaches are closed.
