MONDAY UPDATE:  Heat Advisory –  Hot/Humid Holiday Week –  Hurricane Beryl Making History

Good Morning!  Welcome to July. It’s more of the same.  Are you ready for another day of triple digit heat indices?  Yesterday the Heat Index reached a season high of 109.  Today much of central and South Alabama is under a Heat Advisory, again.  Radar will be rather quiet today. Spotty random storms will be around Tuesday through Saturday.  It looks like a rather routine 4th of July week forecast.  Powerful Hurricane Beryl continues to re-write June hurricane history.  Could we see Debby soon, right behind Beryl? Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:     A Sun/cloud mix.  Hot and humid  again.  High 97  Heat index 105 to 110.  Rain chances today 20% or less.  Best chance in South Alabama.  Low tonight 74.

FUTURE RADAR:  After a very busy radar over the weekend, today any storms will be few and far between.  Best chance in South Alabama.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Looks like a fairly routine 4th of July Week Forecast.   Hot and humid.  Highs most days in the mid 90’s. Expect triple digit heat indices each day.   Spotty random storms will return Tuesday through Saturday.  Lows at night in the 70’s.

TROPICAL UPDATE:   Hurricane Beryl is re-writing June hurricane history.  It is the first hurricane in June to form that far east u  the Tropical Atlantic,  It is also the first major hurricane in June and earliest major hurricane on record.   Winds in Beryl peaked at 140 mph (Cat 4 ) on Sunday.  Winds are now down a bit to 120 mph as the dangerous storm treks through the lower windward islands this morning, and then continues westward all week reaching the Yucatan by about Thursday and then into the Gulf, perhaps as a Tropical Storm. Stay tuned.

Chris was named in the SW Gulf yesterday and has now gone inland into Mexico.  Invest 96-L is about two days behind Beryl in the Tropical Atlantic and has a good chance of eventually becoming Debby.  The hurricane season is WAY ahead of schedule and is breaking records early.

Thanks for reading the blog. There will be another complete Blog update and video forecast discussion tomorrow morning.  This morning, everything is normal including LIVE on the Radio from 6 to 9AM on NewsTalk 93.1 – WACV.  Have a nice day!!
