Good Morning! It’s looking more and more that we’ll be Radar Watching this weekend as storm clusters slide southeastward into the state. Today and Saturday, the best chance of seeing strong/severe storms will be across north Alabama. On Sunday, much of the state is in a Marginal Severe Risk. While probability of storms will not be overwhelming, some of the storms could put on quite a show with gusty winds, and prolific lightning. Outside of thunderstorms areas the heat will still be a big factor. Expect upper 90’s today, Saturday and Sunday. But, hang on . Temperatures and humidity levels will be much more reasonable Monday through Wednesday. Here’s my brief forecast discussion
TODAY: Good but of sunshine. Hot again. High in the upper 90’s. Heat Index 100+. Scattered random storms, especially in the afternoon and evening. . Light wind.. Low 76.
FUTURE radar: Here’s an example of Hi-res radar early this evening. A few stronger storms are possible.
The Marginal Severe Risk will mainly be confined to the northern counties today and Saturday.
. HURRICANE ERNESTO: Ernesto is now a 100 mph Cat. 2 Hurricane, moving in the general direction of Bermuda. It will be in the vicinity of Bermuda late tonight and into Saturday. The rest of the tropics are quiet for now.
NEXT FEW DAYS: Expect scattered pop up storms each day. It’s possible some of the storms will be a little stronger and perhaps become a bit more numerous by Saturday and Sunday. . Expect upper 90’s today, Saturday and Sunday. But, hang on . Temperatures and humidity levels will be much more reasonable Monday through Wednesday.
