Good morning! Expect one more mild day today with a high near 70. But, a Cold Front is sweeping through the state. At Midnight, as the New Year begins we’ll be in the mid 40’s. Overnight low in the 30’s. New Years Days will be cooler with highs will only be in the 50’s. By Saturday, we’ll be even colder, with lows in the 20’s and highs in the 40’s. But, on this blog update, we’ll give you a peek well into what could be a very cold January. There will be various stages of Arctic air. It could be significant by the 7th through the 11th. TORNADO SURVEYS CONTINUE: Saturday night’s Tornado outbreak produced several confirmed tornadoes. So far, NWS survey teams have identified 13 tornadoes in Alabama. Eight of those tornadoes occurred in Lowndes, Montgomery and Macon. The vast majority of the tornadoes were brief EF-0 spin-ups. There were 10 EF-0’s surveyed and three EF-1s. In Montgomery county, there was a EF-1 near Hope Hull from 12:43 to 1:05 AM. Surveys will continue involving 6 counties. Here’s the details in this ln this special weather statement.

NEXT FEW DAYS: It will turn much cooler on New Years Day with highs only in the 50’s. But, the COLDEST air in the next 5 will be Saturday. There’s a small chance of showers Thursday night. More scattered showers are expected Sunday.

ARCTIC BLAST AHEAD: Get ready for a January Winter Arctic Blast. There will be various stages of Arctic air. It could be significant by the 7th through the 11th. Could there even be colder air after mid month?
Here’s The GFS Temperature Anaomoly map for January 10. It shows VERY COLD air vovering a huge chunk of the Untied States.
Heres the GFS Raw numbers out 16 days. It indicates some very cold air, especially from January 7th throguh 11th. Gwt ready for WINTER.
