TUESDAY UPDATE:   Wet & Stormy – Cold Front Approaching

Good morning!  An approaching Cold Front will set the stage for a rather Wet and stormy day today and through tonight. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3” will be common, locally 4”+ in parts of Southeast Alabama,  A large chunk of the state is in a Marginal Severe Risk (Level 1 out of 5), for roughly the southeast half of the state. Damaging wind gusts is the main risk.  A tornado or two can’t be rued out.  The main risk would be from about Noon  to 7PM.  Rain ends late tonight as the cold front moves through late tonight.  Behind the storms system, expect another sharp temperature plunge Wednesday. Windy and colder.   Here’s my brief forecast video discussion.

TODAY:  Periods of showers and thunderstorms.  Locally heavy rainfall.  Some storms could be strong possibly severe. High 72.  Southwest wind 10 to 15 gusting to 25 mph. Winds shift to northwest behind the front late tonight.  Low tonight in the lower 40’s.

Here’s the expected rainfall with this storm system. Locally excessive.  Rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches will be common.  Rainfall amounts could reach up to 4” in some spots across southeast Alabama. 

NEXT FEW DAYS: Wednesday will be windy and colder.  Expect sub-freezing  nights Wednesday and Thursday nights. Temperatures will moderate by the weekend. I have introduced a chance of showers over the weekend.
