FRIDAY UPDATE:  Nest Surge of Colder Air Ahead – As Winter Begins

Good morning!  Yesterday was 20 degrees colder than Wednesday. That’s stage one of the cooler air.  Stage 2 is on the way.  A cold front sweeps through the state today. Behind it is even colder air which will funnel in as Winter Officially begins overnight.  Expect a series of sub-freezing nights through Sunday night.  Today will be cool. But by Saturday, the high temperature will struggle to reach 50.  A stiff breeze will make it seem colder.  So, the first weekend of Winter will certainly feel like Winter.  Temperatures will slowly start to recover Christmas week.  Meanwhile, we’ll be dry for the next several days. The next rain chance will arrive by Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. Christmas is likely to be very mild with highs in the 60’s.   Here’s my brief video forecast discussion

TODAY:  Sunshine, breezy and rather cool.  High 63. North wind 15 1 to 20 gusting to 25mph.  Clear and colder tonight.  Low 29. Morning wind Chill Factor near 20.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Colder air will be funneling in.  By Saturday, highs will struggle to reach 50.  A stiff wind will make it seem colder. Sunday’s high will be in the low 50’s.  Temperatures will start to recover Christmas week. The next rain chance could arrive by Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. Christmas is likely to be very mild with highs in the 60’s.

Here’s Expected rainfall through the next 7 days.

Here’s the 10 day Temp trend.  COLD weekend.  Then a temperature turnaround closer to Christmas Day and beyond

Winter BEGINS:  Friday is the last official day of Fall.  The Winter solstices is Saturday at 3:20 AM CST.  The days will start getting longer after Saturday.  Saturday will be 10 hours, 1 minute and 33 seconds long,  Sunday will be two seconds longer.
