WEDNESDAY Update:  After The RECORD Deep South Snowstorm – Arctic Chill Continues

Good Morning!  The monster, historic Southern Snowstorm will move off the Atlantic coast this morning, after dumping all-time  record snowfall amounts from Texas to the Atlantic coast.  Some southern cities had their all-time biggest snow totals ever.  New Orleans 8.7”,  some reports 9”+.  Mobile all-time record with 8” and 7.5” at the Mobile Airport. Orange Beach 8”.  Pensacola Beach also broke their all-time record with 6.5”.  Highest total in Alabama 8.5” at Silverhill in Baldwin county  Dangerous travel conditions remain across central and south Alabama this morning with icy, roads and bridges. Temperatures are falling into the teens early this morning.  Major Improvements are expected later in the day.  Afternoon highs in the upper 30’s will melt the roadways, so the afternoon commute will be much better.  Meanwhile, the Arctic Chill deep freeze remains in place tonight and through Saturday night. Over the weekend temperatures will recover to the 50’s, which will seem like a heatwave.  Widely scattered showers will return Sunday. With a better chance of scattered showers on Monday. Here’s my video forecast discussion.

Take a look at this picture from Babbie, Alabama in Covington County.

Snapshot of that tragic pileup on I-65 Butler county.

Just wow…

What a day across the Deep South. “ Blizzard Beach”    The I-10 Corridor Monster.  HISTORY.

Orange Beach:

TODAY:  Risk of locally icy roads and potential dangerous travel will continue for morning commute.  Sunshine today.  High in the upper 30’s.  Travel improves dramatically after Noon.  Clear and frigid again tonight.  Low 19.

MONTGOMERY SNOWFALL: Officially .50″ at MGM, .50″ Downtown and 1.25″ at my house in East Montgomery.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Arctic cold continues through the next 2 or 3 days.  Freezing nights through Saturday night.  Look for weekend warming.  Lower 50’s return Saturday. Upper 50’s by Sunday.  Lower 60’s Monday.  Risk of widely scattered showers Sunday and scattered showers Monday.

Here’s the 10 Day Model Blend Temperature Trend.  Take a look at that “stairstep” as temperatures recover.  A Warming Trend is just what the doctor ordered.
