Good morning! For the next several days, Winter is on hold. Expect an extended string of milder days and nights. Today will be warmer than yesterday. A frontal system is approaching. Showers and storms are likely tomorrow as early as the morning hours. The system will lose a little of its “punch” when it arrives in Alabama. No Severe Weather is expected. Timing is everything. Behind the front, the weekend looks dry and nice. We’ll be in the 60’s Saturday and near or above 70 Sunday. In fact, next week looks amazingly warm for the first week on February. Call it a very early Spring Preview. Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.
TODAY: Mostly sunny. Warmer. High 73. East wind 6 to 12 mph. Mostly cloudy tonight. Low 55.
FRIDAY STORM SYSTEM: Here’s the set-up for Friday AM at 6AM as a major storm system moves through the eastern United States. The Storm Prediction Center has a severe risk included as far east as Mississippi. However, the system will tend to weaken a bit after it enters Alabama.
Here’s a couple of hi-res model snapshots. The risk of showers and perhaps some thunderstorms begins as early as tomorrow morning and continues into Friday afternoon.
