WEDNESDAY UPDATE:  Parade of Storm Systems – Wet Days Ahead

Good Morning!  Get ready for an extended very wet/active weather pattern for the next several days, as a parade of storm systems cross the Gulf South, one after another. It’s not going to rain all the time  There will be waves of showers and storms through Monday.  Total rainfall amounts could be rather significant. Part of southwest Alabama has a Marginal Severe Risk today.  All of the state is in a Level 1 Marginal risk tomorrow from SPC.  Damaging wind gust would be the main risk. Expect a wet Mother’s Day Weekend.  Here is my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Our rather wet active series of days begins. Scattered showers and thunderstorms, at times today and tonight.  High 81.  East wind 5 to 10 today, becoming south by tonight.  Low 65.

Particularly wet commute this morning.

SPC has parts of the state in a Level 1 Marginal Risk each of the next three days, especially Thursday.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Get ready for a parade of storm systems….one after another after another, across the Gulf south each day through Monday. It’s not going to rain all the time, but the risk of showers and storms will be in the forecast each day Wednesday through Monday.  A wet Mother’s Day Weekend. Highs most days will be in the 70’s to near 80.  Lows in the 60’s.

Lots of rainfall potential over the next several days from a parade of storm systems across The Gulf South. How much total rainfall? Here’s a blend of the models suggesting up to 3 inches in Montgomery through Monday. Some models are indicating up to 6″ over parts of south Alabama.

.  Here’s the expected rainfall through Monday. Locally excessive totals are possible.

Here’s the 10 day model blend temperature trend.  Take a look at the middle of May. That looks like Summertime.

BEACH FORECAST:  Scattered showers and thunderstorms at times over the Mother’s Day Weekend. It’s not going to rain all the time.  Remember it never rains in the restaurants and bars.

HURRICANE SEASON SOON:  Won’t be long now.
