WEEKEND Update:  Dog Days of Summer – More Random Storms

Good morning! The dangerous, relentless heat and humidity continues. The heat Index will be in the triple digit range through the weekend and beyond.   The number of storms on radar will start to thin out in number today and tomorrow.  But, there will still be some scattered random locally heavy downpours.  Otherwise, expect little day to day change through the middle of next week.  NHC is monitoring a new Area to Watch in the tropical Atlantic.

It’s the Dog Days of Summer!

TODAY:  Sun/cloud mix.  High near 95.  Heat index100-105. Random Scattered PM showers & Storms.  Locally heavy tropical downpours in spots. Low tonight 75.

FUTURE RADAR:   Not as many storms around today.  But, there will still be some scattered random locally heavy downpours.

NEXT FEW DAYS.  Storms will thin out in number over the next few days.  Meanwhile, highs in the low to mid 90’s, will lead  to more triple digit heat indices.  Lows at night will continue in the muggy mid 70’s.  Very little day to day change.

Heaviest rain will be along the Gulf coast and in Florida.

Here’s the 10 day model blend temperature guidance.  No relief in sight.

NWS: The latest GFS and ECMWF deterministic center the ridge
roughly over Arkansas through much of the week, while Central
Alabama slowly heats back up day by day. By Tuesday and Wednesday,
we`ll see highs firmly back into the mid 90s in many areas, and we
will likely need to consider resuming the issuance of Heat
Advisories by Tuesday if not sooner.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK:  NHC is monitoring a Tropical Wave in the Tropical Atlantic which  currently has a low 20% chance of tropical development in the next 7 days.

The Euro Model shows a medium risk of Tropical Depression development in the next week.

BEACH FORECAST:   It’s a fairly routine weekend forecast, with random scattered downpours in spots.  Highs near 90.  Gulf water temperature is 86.      High rip current risk, particularly from Destin eastward.

The next scheduled Blog update and Video Discussion is scheduled for Monday morning in the 4 o’clock hour.   Have a nice weekend!
