Good morning! What a difference. Yesterday’s High of 75 was the coolest since mid April. Last Tuesday was Day three of a week-long Heat Advisory. Today’s high will be closer to 83. Normal High is 94. More scattered random showers and storms will be around each day through the end of the week, most numerous in the afternoon and evening hours. The next 90 degree day will likely not be until the upcoming weekend. Meanwhile, the tropics are starting to come alive. But, there are no threats to our part of the world at this point. Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.
CLIMATE: Yesterday at MGM, Low 68. High 75. (Normal 94/72) Rainfall: Trace.
TODAY: Mostly cloudy. High near 83. Random Scattered showers and thunderstorms today. Local tropical downpours. Low tonight 70.
That stalled front continues to be parked near the coast, with waves of low pressure moving along the front, enhancing our daily rain chance.

The FLOOD WATCH has been adjusted eastward. It covers the far eastern counties, along and east of an Alex City/Troy line.

FUTURE RADAR: More scattered random showers and storms. Local Tropical downpours. Especially in the late afternoon and evening hours.

NEXT FEW DAYS: More scattered random showers and storms will be around each day through the end of the week, most numerous in the afternoon and evening hours. Meanwhile comfortable temperatures continue – with 80’s daytime and night near 70. The next 90 degree day will likely not be until the upcoming weekend.

Here’s the 10 Day Model Blend Temperature Trend. Amazing turnaround from last week’s sweltering heat.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK: Tropical Storm Dexter north of Bermuda, moving northeastward in the open Atlantic.

NHC is highlighting another area to watch off the SE coast, with a 30% chance of development. And, another in the Tropical Atlantic with a 50/50 chance of development in the next 7 days.

Do we ever trust a model run 360 hours out. NO — But I thought this was interesting. Here’s the EURO model on August 20th. Hmmmmmmm. That looks interesting.

Here’s the AI version of the EURO.
