FRIDAY Update:  Dry/Comfortable Now – Isolated Showers Return Sunday

Good Morning!  Should be a very comfortable/dry forecast on this opening day of the Alabama National Fair.  Thursday’s high was 85.  We’ll be close to that again today, with low humidity and a nice easterly breeze.  (Normal 85/61) It’s still a dry forecast through at least tomorrow. The Drought continues to grow worse. But, fingers crossed as widely scattered showers return to the forecast Sunday through Wednesday.  In the tropics, NHC is monitoring two Areas to Watch.  One, a tropical low, near the SE US coastline. The other one is a tropical wave in the far eastern Tropical Atlantic. Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Mostly sunny. Tolerable humidity. Nice morning low near 60 at Dawn.  Hi 85.  Nice breeze again today.  East 10 to 15 gusts to 20.  Mainly clear tonight.  Pleasantly cool.  Low tonight 62.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Still a dry forecast through at least Saturday.  Widely scattered PM showers Sunday through Tuesday.  Great weather for the start of the Alabama National Fair. Low to mid 80’s daytime.  60’s at night.

Here’s the 10 day Model Blend temperature trend.

Widely scattered showers return to the forecast Sunday through Wednesday. We need every rain drop we can get as the Drought worsens.

The new Drought Monitor map just came out. (Comes out every Thursday. Alabama’s drought is getting worse. 95% of the state is in some level of dryness. 51% is at least in a moderate drought. And, at least 14% of the state are in severe or extreme drought. We should be dry at least through Saturday. A few showers will start to pop up Sunday through Tuesday.

TROPICAL OUTLOOK:

NHC is monitoring two Areas to Watch.  One, a tropical low, near the SE US coastline. The other one is a tropical wave in the far eastern Tropical Atlantic.

The EURO Ensemble models Member Lows looks interesting, especially along the SE US coastline and in the Gulf …through Friday 10/10.
