TUESDAY Update:  Major Warming This Week – Big Plunge Next Week

Good Morning!    Are you ready for a nice warming trend?  It begins today with a high in the middle 70’s. The normal hi/lo is 74/47. Wednesday we’ll be in the mid to upper 70’s.  In fact, we should reach the upper 70’s Thursday through Saturday.  Tonight will still be chilly.  We’ll be down to 44.  But, gradually, even the nighttime lows will slowly start to slowly moderate. An approaching frontal system will bring showers and storms to the state Friday night.  Cooler,  and then COLDER will follow.  But, not right away.  Highs in the 70’s are still a good bet even over the weekend.  Then, a reinforcing surge of Arctic Air will arrive by Monday.  There will be a significant temperature crash.  Expect a big change on Monday and Tuesday especially, next week.  Here’s my brief video forecast discussion.

TODAY: Sunshine, with a high near 74. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.  Tonight:  Clear and quite chilly ahead.  Low 42.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   A big warming trend is now underway.  We’ll be in the 70’s for the rest of the week. In fact, we should reach the upper 70’s Thursday through Sunday.  Nights continue to be chilly for now.  But, even the nights will slowly start to moderate.  An approaching frontal system will bring showers and storms to the state.  Cooler and then COLDER will follow.  But not right away.  Highs in the 70’s are still a good bet even over the weekend.  Then, a reinforcing surge of Artic Air will arrive by Monday.  There will be a significant temperature crash.  A big change on Monday and Tuesday especially, next week.

A series of frontal systems will be moving g through the state by this weekend.  The final one Monday AM will deliver our fist sample of Arctic air this season.  A  BIG change. Likely freezing temperatures for many towns.

The first front will deliver showers and storms Friday night, Saturday AM.   Here’s the expected rainfall. Not much.

Here’s the 10 Day model blend temperature trend. The next big temperature plunge arrives early next week.  Likely freezing temperatures for many towns.

Here’s some facts on the First Freeze in Montgomery.
