Extreme Cold Warning – Dangerous Wind Chill 

   Good Morning!  Old man winter is in town again.

Bitter cold air is funneling into Alabama this morning on gusty Northwest wind.  It is the coldest Arctic Air yet this season. Today’s  high may fail to reach the freeze mark, with winds gusting to 35-40 mph. Even the daytime wind chill will only be in the teens at best.  Take all cold weather precautions. The coldest night will be tonight in the middle teens.    Wind chill will be brutal this morning and Sunday morning – probably single digits both mornings.  Near ZERO in spots. Dress in layers.  Take care of your pets and let faucets drip.

Hang on! We’ll warm to near 63 Tuesday.  Rain moves in Tuesday night and Wednesday.  Colder again late week.

MORNING SNOW FLURRIES
(6:30 AM 1/31/26)
It’s minor. No big deal. But, there’s snow flurries on the radar diving southward in central Alabama on this windy, Arctic Cold Saturday morning. No accumulation expected. It’s very fluffy kind of snow because of the dry air.

TODAY:  Extreme Cold Advisory. Wind Advisory.

Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 31. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

TONIGHT:  Extreme Cold Warning. Mostly clear.  Extremely cold.  Low in the mid teens.  AM Wind Chill zero to 5 above.

NORTHEAST ALABAMA MORNING FLURRIES:  Winter weather advisory covers a few NE Alabama counties till Noon because of morning flurries and a tiny accumulation on the grass.

EXTREME COLD IN FLORIDA:   Many records will fall in Florida.  Coldest in 16 years.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Sunday AM will be brutally cold.  Sunday’s high in the upper 30’s.  Near 20 on Sunday night.  Monday—a little better high 53. We’ll warm to near 63 Tuesday.  Rain moves in Tuesday night and Wednesday.  Colder again late week.
