Good Morning! It’s a quiet, nice forecast on this Friday the 13th. Our hi8gh will be near 70. There’s a lot riding on the Valentine’s weekend forecast, with lots of Mardi Gras parades and festivals. The news is good for Saturday. It should be mainly dry and comfortable. Showers and storms are most likely starting in the overnight hours Saturday night and especially on Sunday. There is a Marginal Severe Risk Sunday. Damaging winds are the main threat, but a few brief tornadoes can’t be ruled out. Locally heavy rainfall is possible. DROUGHT MONITOR: Latest Drought Monitor Map continues to grow worse. Now, roughly 30% of the state is in an extreme drought category with a few counties in the Extreme Drought classification inn parts of east central and south Alabama. This weekend’s expected rainfall totals will certainly help. Fingers crossed.

AMERICA’S COLDEST DAY ANNIVERSARY: On this day in 1899…February 13, 1899 – it wasn’t just Montgomery’s coldest day ever. It can be argued that it was America’s coldest day ever. Montgomery’s Low was -5, Birmingham -10, Mobile -1 Even Tallahassee recorded Florida’s coldest low ever with -2. Ice was reported floating in Mobile Bay.
