Future Radar showing a faster timetable on the movement of the main band of showers & storms this morning and this afternoon.  By afternoon some of those storms in eastern and SE Alabama need to be watched for possible severe development.  Damaging winds.  Brief tornadoes perhaps.

NWS highlights an area along and east of a line from roughly Alex City to Tallassee to Troy and southward where a couple of supercell thunderstorms are possible with damaging wind gusts and maybe some brief tornadoes.

The stage is set for a spectacular weather weekend and beyond.

Great weekend beach forecast

A huge pattern change is going on in the upper atmosphere as a ridge builds, which will promote warmer temperatures and will keep stronger storm systems at bay for several days.

The big, slow-moving eastern storm continues to affect our forecast, as another little disturbance rotates in around the storm bringing another shower chance to the state today.

Rain chances are increasing for Thursday and Thursday night, in fact I may have to go up higher in future forecasts.  The stage is set for a text book perfect weekend.

Rain and thunderstorms will affect the area Thursday and Thursday night.  So far no Severe Risk from SPC, but I think a few stronger storms can’t be ruled out.

The GFS shows a significant warming trend beginning this weekend and continuing well in through the early part of May.

Risk of Showers Continue – The Week Ahead – Monday Video Update

Good morning, on an ugly, foggy Monday with drizzle. That complex storm system will slowly loosen it’s grip on Alabama.  On this video, I’ll get you ready for the week ahead.  I have updated the rain chances.  Plus, we’ll look ahead to the weekend.  Could this be the first storm-free weekend in months?   And, it looks more and more like a major warming trend will start the month of May.  His your Monday morning personal weather briefing with your toast and coffee this morning.

The complex storm system will slowly begin to loosen it’s grip on Alabama.  Spotty showers will be around at times today and tonight after drizzle and fog this morning.

Disturbances will drift through the area from time to time this week, with showers from time to time.  Temperatures will be below normal for April.

It starting to look more and more likely that we could see our first storm-free weekend in months.

The Euro global model continues to hint that much warmer temperatures are in our future as April ends and May begins.

In fact, May could see a prolonged period of much warmer air, as cold air that has been gripping the nation for much of April starts to retreat.
