Saturday UPDATE: Tolerable Weekend Humidity – Tropics Getting Interesting – Watching the Gulf

Good Morning!  Yesterday was perfect.  Today will be not too bad at all!  Not quite as perfect.  A  little warmer, but still acceptable, reasonable humidity. The nights are still comfortable.

But, alas, humidity will be on the rise Sunday and Monday.  Spotty random storms will return.

Things are about to get very interesting in the tropics over the next 15 days.  There are several areas that need to be watched. Much more detail below.  Tropical Trouble in the Gulf next week.

YESTERDAY:  What a Friday!  The morning low was 58 (coolest since May31st).  Afternoon high 85, with dewpoints in the 50’s.  Ideal.

TODAY:  Slightly warmer.  High 89.  Dewpoints a little higher:  Low 60’s this afternoon.  Sunshine.  East wind 5 to 10.  Mainly clear, and still comfortable tonight.  Low 67.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Sunday, the a high of 91, it will feel more humid.  Dewpoints in the upper 60’s Sunday & Monday.  You’ll feel a difference.  Widely scattered storms return Monday.  Random scattered storms Tuesday through Thursday.  Humid.

INVEST 93-L:  The disturbance about to enter the Bay of Campeche, INVEST 93-L, will almost certainly become a Tropical Depression by about Sunday.  Then, it will head towards either upper Texas coast or Louisiana by early to mid-week.

Many models bring this system to Tropical strength. Here’s a sample of the GFS wind and rainfall swath.  The EURO is somewhat similar but a little father west.

The EURO model and the GFS) also suggests possible tropical development off the Southeast US coast in the week ahead.

Elsewhere in the Tropics, besides Hurricane Larry effecting the Canadian Maritime provinces, things are getting busy in the far eastern tropical Atlantic.  Invest 93-L, many days down the road, could possibly become a Hurricane closer to the Caribbean.  The next 15 days in the Tropics look very, very interesting.

TODAY is the statistical height of the hurricane season. This Thursday, September 16th, is a double anniversary here in Alabama. Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and Hurricane Sally in 2020. Both Hurricanes came ashore near Gulf Shores 16 years apart.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of devastating Hurricane Frederic in 1979.

I’ll have another Blog update tomorrow morning.   Have a great FOOTBALL SATURDAY.
