Quiet For Now – Warmer Days & Nights Ahead – Monday Video

Good morning!   It’s a cool morning, but we are about to turn the corner in a big way.  On this video, I’ll fill you in on the big pattern change, which spells warmer days and milder nights. In fact, a little summer preview later this week. How long?  I’ll tell when showers will return, and how much rain could fall.  With your toast and coffee this morning, here’s your Monday morning personal weather briefing.

Chilly start this morning, turns into a warm afternoon.  Start of a warm week ahead.

Not only are the days getting warmer.  Nights will get milder and milder.  Showers hold off until the weekend.

Not only will temperatures surge this week, take a look at the dewpoint. When the dewpoint is below 60, we’re generally comfortable. 60+ starts the humid range. 65+ very humid. 70+ oppressive. This week just a little “taste” of summer mid to late week

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around from time to time this weekend.

The pollen count will stay in the moderate to high range, day after day all week.

SUNDAY UPDATE:  Comfortable Days & Cool Nights- String of Storm-Free Days

You just couldn’t write a better script for the next few days.  We are just beginning a string of remarkable days as we end the month of April and begin May.  After a cool morning, this morning, our temperature will surge.  We will be storm- free for several days. Great weather at Talladega today for the big race!

TODAY:  Text book perfect.  Cool start, but a rapid recovery.  Sunshine and nice.  High 76.  North wind 5-10 mph.  Clear and chilly tonight.  Jacket weather again.  Overnight low 48.

CLIMATE INFO:  Yesterdays high and low was 81 and 50.  Normal high/low is 80/56.   Sunrise this morning 6:01, sunset 7:25.  Moonrise this evening is 7:13pm.  The full Pink moon.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  After a cool Monday morning start, we are headed for a taste of some much warmer air, with sunny, warm days and mostly clear nights, which will be moderating at the week goes on.  Scattered showers will return by Friday night into Saturday.

WHAT’S HAPPENING?:  Controlling our weather, in the upper atmosphere, this week, will be a massive ridge of high pressure, surging northward from the Gulf and dominating much of the eastern US.  For us, this spells a big warming trend, as we head for the warmest temperatures in 2018 so far.  But, that’s not all.  This ridge also keeps would-be storm systems at bay for several days.

NEXT STORM SYSTEM?:  Scattered showers return somewhere in the Friday/Saturday time frame on Cinco De Mayo weekend, from a decaying frontal system approaching the state.  The extent of the showers and the timing are still a little uncertain.  I’ll keep you up to date as the week unfolds.

It’s been a beautiful weekend across the region.  I attended my first wedding beach last evening…barefoot, as the sun set in the west and the spectacular full moon was rising in the east.  Shrimp boil on the Beach, here in Panama City Beach.  Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Rick Lawrence!

Hope you have a great day today!  I’m heading back from the coast this morning.  I’ll have a complete video update fro you bright and early Monday morning online by about 4:45AM as I update you on the week ahead.  Have a great Sunday!

SATURDAY UPDATE:  Comfortable Days & Cool Nights- String of Storm-Free Day

Your update this morning is short and sweet.  That’s only because the news is good, and we have no storms to talk about for a few days.  Get ready for the best weekend in 2018, so far.  A weak cool front is approaching.  It’s a dry front, meaning no rain and few if any clouds.  Days will be warm and comfortable. But, nights will continue to be quite chilly, and will require a jacket.

TODAY:  A cool morning, gives way to a sunny, nearly perfect afternoon.  Our high will surge into the upper 70’s.  Tonight will be clear, but rather cool again.  Jackets will be needed later this evening and first thing in the morning, with lows at or close to 50.  West winds today, at 6-12 mph, becoming near calm tonight.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  There were be cool nights and mornings, but the days will be comfortable and warm.  Monday through Thursday, temperatures will warm significantly.  Highs will be in the 80’s.  Lows will be in the 50’s.  Each day and night will be a little warmer.

A ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere will be responsible for this big pattern change, allowing the warmer temperatures and storm-free days.

If you are headed to The Beach or to Talladega this weekend, the forecast could not be nicer.  Cool nights will require a jacket.

NEXT STORM SYSTEM?:  Showers and thunderstorms will be back in the Friday/Saturday time frame, but the details and timing and strength are unknown at time.  Details will become clearer as we get closer.

I’m typing this from Panama City, Florida on a beautiful Full Moon pre-dawn Saturday morning.  (It’s the Full “Pink” moon.  Official Full Moon date is tomorrow)  I hope you enjoy this beautiful weekend, whether you are, and whatever you are doing.  I’ll have another blog update tomorrow morning around Dawn.
