More Rain Ahead – Possible Strong Storms Sunday –THURSDAY Video

Good Morning!  Looks a wet last day of February as our very active pattern continues.  I’ll walk you through the “up and down” rain chances for the next few days.  Plus, a stronger front on Sunday could bring a severe weather threat to Alabama.  I have the latest from the Storm Prediction Center.  And, drastically colder weather is on the way next week, but it may now last for long.

Wet at times today and for the next few days.  Looks like a wet commute for many.

Wet at times through Sunday.  Then a cold front delivers stage one of colder air.  Stage two begins to filter in by mid-week.

An important cold front will enter the state on Sunday, with a line of strong, possibly severe storms ahead of it.

The Storm Prediction Center has already added a severe weather risk for much of Alabama on Sunday.

Yes some drastically colder arctic air is on the way for next week, BUT, cold weather fans, the cold may only for maybe three days or so before we start to recover.  The coldest air will stay north of us.  We will side-swiped.

Rain & Storms Next Few Days – Arctic Air Next Week –WEDNESDAY Video

Good Morning!  We have a very Spring-like pattern on this last day of February.  The next few days will be wet, and potentially stormy at times.  I have the latest from the Storm Prediction Center on which areas could see severe weather. Drenching rains are in our future.  I’ll show you the projected rainfall totals.  And, are you ready for some Arctic Air?  Get ready.  We’ve been telling you about it for awhile.  I have some new arrival time information and I’ll show you how daily highs could be 35 degrees colder, with mornings in the 20’s.  What a change, soon…

Wet at times today and tonight, with scattered showers & storms.  Spring-like   Highs in the mid 70’s.

The set-up for tomorrow puts much of central and south Alabama in the “juicy air” with the threat of stronger storms.  The Storm Prediction Center says a few storms could be severe from Montgomery southward.

Wet at times through the weekend.  Much cooler air starts to filter in by late Sunday into Monday.

The set-up for Sunday is starting to look more concerning as a strong cold front approaches.  Could turn into a potential severe weather threat situation.  We’re watching.

Drenching rains for much of central & south Alabama.  2-3″ in spots.

The second front, arriving Tuesday is an Arctic Cold Front .    Dramatically colder by mid-week.

Look at the huge temperature drop the Euro model is showing next.  Wow.  That’s a BIG change…

Parade of Storm Systems – Arctic Air Next Week –TUESDAY Video

Good Morning!  Are forecast for the next several days is rather active.  It will be wet at times and maybe stormy, too.  The models do not agree on the day to day details, but on this video I’ll try to untangle the details.  And, Cold weather fans…what have been telling you for the last several days.  Arctic air will arrive very early in the new month of March.  In fact, now the major global models are agreeing on the time table.  Are you ready to take a big plunge?

Mild today.  Could be showers by afternoon.  Better chance of scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm tonight.

Wet and active next few days as a parade of storm systems move through the area.

Could parts of Alabama see some strong, possibly severe storms Friday?  Currently SPC has areas along and south of a Greenville/Troy line in a Marginal Risk.  We’ll see if this area is adjusted as we get closer to Friday…

ATTENTION COLD WEATHER FANS:  How many weeks have I been telling you that arctic air will be arriving the first week of March?  Now the models are agreeing on the mid week arrival next week, somewhere around March 5/6th.  Are you ready for the plunge?

The Raw Numbers from the computer models look pretty darn interesting around March 7, and 8th especially.   Low 40’s for highs?   Low 20’s for lows?   And, these numbers are subject to revision as we get closer.

Quiet Start to The Week – Then, a Parade of Disturbances –MONDAY Video

Good Morning, on a chilly Monday morning…  Should be a great day ahead!  But, we will see a rather active next 7 to 10 days, as a series of storm systems parade across the Gulf South, through this week and beyond.  I’ll pin down the timeline and the details.  Plus, cold weather fans…stand by.   Your day is coming.  When will the much colder air arrive?  The models disagree.

Enjoy today…the nicest and quiet day of the week.  A series of storm systems are in our future Tuesday evening through the end of the week.

Nice today and much of Tuesday.  Wet at times Tuesday evening through Saturday morning.  Warmer tomorrow and the rest of the week.

A stronger storm system affects us by Friday / Friday night.  Will there be any stronger storms (or severe).  Way to early to speculate on that.

COLDER air is still on the menu for the beginning of March.  But what day will it arrive?  The GFS says this weekend it will arrive, but the EURO delays it a few days until around March 5 or so.

SUNDAY UPDATE:  Storms Depart – Sunshine Returns – The Week Ahead

After a week of active weather,  including rain and storms yesterday & overnight, the cold front has moved through and some nice weather is on the menu for the next couple of days. This will be a nice break for Alabama after flooding this week.  Overnight, wind damage from a possible tornado was reported in Coosa county southeast of Rockford.

The weather this week will include a few disturbances brushes by the area, with the threat of showers at times.  The strongest disturbance arrives Friday, ahead of a cold front.  Could be some stronger thunderstorms perhaps.

6 Tornado reports past 24 hours and numerous wind damage reports.

TODAY:  Sunshine, breezy & cooler.  After mid 80’s yesterday, today’s high will be 67.  Gusty Northwest wind at 10-20+ with higher gusts.  Clear and colder tonight.  Overnight low 37.

NEXT FEW DAYS:   Beautiful day Monday with sunshine, mid 60’s.  A little warmer Tuesday with as a high near 70.  Periods of showers, at times Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday.  It appears the stronger disturbance of the week will affect the area by Friday/Friday night/Saturday morning.  Could be thunderstorms.  Too early to say if there will be a severe threat.

MUCH COLDER AIR:  Next weekend, the EURO model continues to suggest a Colder airmass will move in.  Looks like the heart of the cold air will be in place by around Sunday/Monday, March 3-4.

The extent of the cold and how long is not known yet.  BUT, the Euro shows the big drop behind the cold front.

I’ll have a complete video update Monday morning at 4:45AM.  I’ll go into much more detail about the week ahead. Have a great Sunday!
