MONDAY UPDATE:   Late Season Cold Snap – Freeze Warning Tonight

Good morning!  Today is the last full day of Winter.  And, temperatures will be running at least 10-12 degrees below normal.  Sunshine will dominate.  Attention Alabama growers.  We’re headed for a late season freeze tonight. Widespread frost by Dawn Tuesday. A Freeze Warning in effect.  Tuesday’s high may not make it out of the 50’s.  But, this late season cool-snap won’t last two long.  Temperatures will moderate back into the 70’s  later in the week. Next chance of showers by Friday.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion.

TODAY:  Today is the last full day of Winter. Cool sunshine.  Much below normal.  High near 60.  Late season Freeze tonight. FREEZE WARNING.   Low 32 by Dawn Tuesday. 

NEXT FEW DAYS:  We’re headed for a late season freeze tonight with widespread frost by Dawn Tuesday.  Tomorrow will continue quite cool.  But, this late season cool-snap won’t last two long.  Temperatures will moderate back into the 70’s  later in the week. Storm-free and dry much of this week. Next chance of showers by Friday.  (Normal hi/lo 72/46)

Rainfall is expected to be rather light with the late week storm system. HEAVY rain stays south in the northern Gulf.

Here’s the 10 day temperature trend. We’ll be close to freezing Tomorrow  morning. (First day of Spring)   This is very late in the season for a freeze.
