FRIDAY Update:  Hotter Days Returning – Storm-free – Tropics Getting Busy

Good Morning!  Our little humidity break will start to fade.  The heat index may not 100 again today, but over thew weekend, triple digit heat indices will likely return.  Nights will gradually be a little warmer.  The big Upper High will tend to keep us storm-free/dry for several more days.  We’ll be near the 100 degree mark Monday through Wednesday.  Meanwhile, The National Hurricane Center is now monitoring four features in the tropics, including two Invests and a Area to Watch in the Gulf of Mexico.  Here’s my brief forecast discussion

TODAY:  Sunshine. Dewpoints in the 60’s. Bad enough.  Not too awful. Hotter.  High 97. Clear, not as cool tonight. Low 72.

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Storm-free for several days.   Sunny days.  Mostly clear nights.  Upper 90’s  Saturday & Sunday.  Near 100 by Monday and Tuesday.   Dewpoints are creeping up.  By Sunday afternoon, the dewpoints will be near 70.  Nights are not as cool.  Mid 70’s at night Sunday through Wednesday.

The HUGE Upper High is still in control of our weather. Storm-free for several days. Getting hotter again.

We’ve enjoyed a couple of days and nights of minor heat and humidity relief. But, ready or not, we’re heating up again. Look at next week on the 10 day Model Temp Blend.

TROPICAL UPDATE:  The National Hurricane Center is now monitoring four features in the tropics, including two Invests and a Area to Watch in the Gulf of Mexico.  Invest 99-L needs to be watched, especially for places like Puerto Rico.  Could be interesting.  The system in the Gulf could be a future problem for the northwestern Gulf and perhaps Texas.

Here’s the EURO Tropical storm probability for the next 10 days.  No doubt about it.  The tropics are waking up.

An extremely rare tropical threat on the West Coast.  Hurricane Hilary could impact California and the southwest states with big wind and big rain.  It would be the first named storm to make landfall in California in 84 years.

Thanks for reading this Blog this morning! This morning we are LIVE on the radio from 6 to 9 on NewsTalk 93.1.    I’ll have another update for you in the morning.  Have a nice weekend!
