Good morning! It has been very stormy overnight, as the latest round of storms swept across the area. There will be more storms developing later this afternoon and this evening. Some of the storms will be strong possibly severe. Again, rainfall could be heavy in some spots. I have taken rain out of the Sunday forecast. Mostly sunny skies will return Monday. We’ll in the upper 80’s Monday and near 90 by Tuesday & Wednesday. Another storms system approaches by the later part of next week.
TODAY: Risk of storms continues this morning. Much of this day will be dry. However, showers and storms will redevelop this afternoon and especially late this afternoon, and well into Saturday evening. Some o the storms could be strong possibly severe. Rainfall could be heavy in some of the storms. High near 80. Low tonight 66.
FUTURE RADAR: After a morning round of storms, much of this day will be dry. But, showers and storms will pop up again during the afternoon. Especially late this afternoon and into this evening and tonight when the storms will be more numerous. Here’s a couple of Future Radar snapshots from the HRRR model.
There is a Marginal Severe Risk for almost all of the state. Damaging winds are the main threat. A tornado or two can’t be ruled out. A Level 2 threat begins in extreme southeast Alabama.

RAINFALL: Rainfall has already been rather prolific in spots. For instance, Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) set a daily record for May 17th with 2.24”. BUT, total rainfall for this event has reached 3.70”. And, we are not done with this system yet. Significant.
