FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND UPDATE:  Near Record Highs – Dangerous Heat Index

Good Morning one final time from Myrtle Beach!  Records are in jeopardy today and tomorrow. Today’s Record of 100 goes back 143 years.  The Heat index will likely reach close to the 105 danger range. Radar will be mostly quiet today. I can’t rule out an isolated storm. 15% chance.  Widely scattered random PM storms will return Sunday and Monday.  Meanwhile, NHC is still tracking  that Area to Watch in the southwest Gulf.  Could this system eventually become Tropical storm Alberto?   Maybe.

TODAY:  Mostly sunny and hot.  Near record High near 100. (Record 100 from 1881) A little more humid.  Heat index near 105 Danger Range. Radar will be mostly quiet today. I can’t rule out an isolated storm. 15% chance.  Light wind.  Mainly clear tonight.  Low 76.

RECORDS THREATENED?:   Today, tomorrow and Sunday we will be close to record territory  (Normal hi/lo 91/69).

NEXT FEW DAYS:  Records are in jeopardy again on Father’s Day Sunday. Today’s Record of 100 goes back 143 years.  The Heat index will likely reach close to the 105 danger range. Radar will be mostly quiet today. I can’t rule out an isolated storm. 15% chance.  Widely scattered random PM storms will return Sunday and Monday.

TROPICAL:   NHC off the southeast US coastline heading has fizzled. 0% chance of development.  Then there’s still that Area to Watch in the southwest Gulf.  Looks to be a potential problem for Mexico and/or south Texas.   First two names are Alberto and Beryl.

Here’s  the EURO Tropical Storm probabilities through Day 10.

GFS advertises more potential Gulf trouble in the Day 8, BUT never take the GFS to the bank.   We’re just looking.

Who knows what impacts are in store for the US Coastline this Hurricane Season. But, Florida is due. Never forget that Florida was a bullseye for major hurricanes in the 1940s and 1950s. Look at this!

BEACH FORECAST:  Careful.  Moderate Rip current risk today and HIGH Sunday and Monday, especially from Destin eastward.

Thanks for reading the blog.  I’ve been attending the American Meteorological Broadcast Conference in Myrtle Beach all week.  Conference business wrapped up yesterday.  Listening and learning.  It was an amazing conference.

I had a couple of great food experience yesterday.  I was able to satisfy my Lobster addiction at lunch.  Lobster rolls!   And My Oyster craving at dinner.  Raw, grilled, oyster Rockefeller and an Oyster shooter!

Good Bye Myrtle Beach.

My final Breakfast with an Atlantic view!

Thanks for reading the blog. The next complete scheduled blog update and video will be Monday morning, unless updates are needed. Today is a travel day for me from Myrtle Beach to  Montgomery. Two airplanes.  Have a nice weekend. Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there.
